Kathleen G. Palma, PhD

Vice President, Research, Development, and Regulatory Affairs

A parasitologist with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Kathleen Palma is Vice President of Research, Development, and Regulatory Affairs at Piedmont Animal Health. In this role, she directs research studies and manages regulatory processes, including all product registrations. An innovator in animal health, Dr. Palma has developed a number of novel products, including an ingenious treatment for head lice that is non-toxic to humans and a feed-through for horses that controls fly populations.

At Blue Ridge Pharmaceuticals, she developed and registered a protozoal treatment for equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM), among other products. Also an educator, Dr. Palma has taught advanced-placement high school biology and college biology and was twice recognized as teacher of the year.

A native Texan, Dr. Palma earned a doctorate in Entomology from Texas A&M University and a Masters in Education degree with an emphasis in Chemistry and Geography, as well as a BS degree in Chemistry and Geography from Sam Houston State University.
