Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer

Possessing a broad operational finance background, Michael F. Kelly joined Piedmont Pharmaceuticals in 2009 as Chief Financial Officer and in 2012 was also promoted to Chief Operating Officer. Before his current positions, Kelly was Chief Financial Officer of Global Manufacturing for Novartis Animal Health, Inc., and prior to that, Chief Financial Officer of the Novartis North American Region.

Originally, in 1985, Kelly joined the Novartis legacy company, Ciba-Geigy, in Basel, Switzerland, in the area of business development. He followed that with positions focused in the arenas of product management, strategic planning, and senior finance. During his Novartis tenure, Kelly was responsible for building highly effective functions related to receivables, purchasing, and direct-to-vet logistics, as well as implementing standards outlined in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Additionally, he drove significant improvements in the use of marketing and sales resources.

A graduate of Harvard Business School’s MBA Program, Kelly received a Bachelor of Science degree in agricultural economics from Cornell University and an associate’s degree in agronomy at The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill.
